The great panacea for all ills and in particular this burgeoning gift to hypochondriacs everywhere, mental illness, is that we're all supposed to 'open up', ''to share' to fucking' nurture'.

A great, big post-Diana emoteathon for inadequates everywhere, who feel duty bound, on the basis of five minutes of acquaintance, to inform you of their suicidal tendencies, probably followed up by them crying and then (ugh!) them giving you a hug and telling you what a good listener you are.

Some people can actually cope with the strum und drang of everyday life and do not treat their kids inability to use a potty by the age of 18 months with the same PTSD symptoms as the witnesses of the My Lai massacre. For some 'just getting on with it' isn't a phrase on a poster / tee shirt in gil sans with a crown, but a normal reaction to the minor vicissitudes of life.

I will not share!

I refuse to nurture!

And definitely, definitely fuck off with the hugging!

Top class nom.  It’s a daily load of shit from the media that we are all going fucking mental and need to recognise how weak and pathetic we are. We even have King Baldy and Harry gingerbollocks Hewitt telling us it’s ok to cry because they lost their mother at an early age.

Yeah, if my father and grandfather had arranged my mothers assassination I would probably be a bit pissed off. But living a life of luxury for doing fuck all might have helped me get over it.

Labelling people as “mentally ill” was a common practice in Nazi Germany , the USSR and many other totalitarian regimes. It’s just social control.....don’t buck against the system, shut your fucking mouth.

Funny how all these Jihadists all have a “history of mental illness”.  They couldn’t possibly be cunts who are socialised into an ideology that preaches death to the Infidels. Oh no, that might lead us to question why we have 3 million of these cunts allowed into this country in the first place.

No don’t ask questions you mental cunt. You need therapy , you need counselling.

More importantly you need to be a good boy.....believe what you are told and do what you are fucking told.

Muggy cunts.

To be fair and balanced on this topic, sometimes a problem shared is a problem halved.  However I share your sentiment that not everyone who is forced to listen wants to share the burden.     My grandad suffered badly with dark thoughts, but he was of the generation that did keep calm and carry on. He didn’t just think those words were a nice little ditty on a tea cup. He actually just kept his shit to himself and got on with life.     However, he did once pause for thought in my company when I was about 5 and my brother 9.  He was playing with us in the back garden and I remember him say just out of the blue saying, you silly buggers are great, you are why I keep living.   Whilst tears poured from his eyes.    At 5 years old I had no comprehension of what was happening.    Only later in life when he had died did the storey behind his dark thoughts come out.     He had been badly beaten in a POW camp by the Japanese, who had cut off two of his fingers.  He had also seen his best friend beheaded.  Spent three years in the jungle and woke up in sweat from nightmares, regularly.  I wish I had given him a hug.

For  all the middle class self indulged, self centered, cunts out there. Fuck off and top yourselves.  You don’t know what dark thoughts are.

I've always hated flipflops so the My Lai massacre still shocks me even today. The only way it could be topped, would be if a bus load of people wearing crocs being were massacred right in of front of me

Interesting. So your grandfather was a Japanese POW, a modest man who kept his “dark thoughts” to himself and didn’t like to talk about his experiences?

So how come his grandson turned out to be a loud mouth, fucked up, know it all, narcissistic braggart?

I wonder what happened inbetween?

Yeah - it was more the 'one size fits all' approach that you absolutely must talk about stuff, that's so prevalent in the world.

Here's some news. I used to work for the Samaritans on their phone lines (probably why I fit in so well here). Gave up in the end (ha!) since after every shift, a stupid haircut, 20 years younger than me would insist I talk about what had happened that shift, ostensibly so I could, like Mark Oaten, get shit off my chest, but actually, so he could adopt a concerned look, fiddle with his Kurt Cobain barnet, get his patronising / grief jollies and waste my time.

Cunt!

I hope he's dead now.

This epidemic of faux fucking loonies should all have their fucking mobile phones burnt. The whole social media sharing of this nonsense is the main cause of the problem. It has become a proud statement to have a so called mental illness, particularly among young people. It has been fashioned into a contagion.

Of course sad things happen in life, but occasionally feeling low in mood is all part of the human condition. The incidence of those with a genuine mental illness for life is very small.

The underlying reasons for all this shit stems from the fact there are a lot of personality disordered fuckwits, (many with drink or drug consumption as an underpinning factor) that the government have no idea what to do with. Psychiatrists have had these people dumped on them and are expected to deal with them, when really they should be dealt with by the criminal justice system if they are psychopaths, or behavioural therapists if they are non violent. This costs lots of money. So of course the government is only too happy for people to share away. Meanwhile, we store up a significant number of self harmers, anxious and sad fuckers who will have these inadequacies for life.

It is also very profitable for drugs companies and a good earner for "therapists" ..  the trouble is that a lot of the so called mental health conditions are simply a perfectly normal part of the human condition. Perfectly normal "mood swings" will be diagnosed as "bi-polar disorder" and drugs prescribed. Someone's parent or grandparent will die and all of a sudden their perfectly normal grieving will become "post traumatic stress disorder" and drugs or therapy will be prescribed. The therapy racket in particular is especially dangerous with people being made to talk through "traumatic events" that are part and parcel of life and for which the mind has efficient ways of dealing with .. the end result of this "therapy" being that it itself actually creates the so called "post traumatic stress".

Well quite.

Throw in the swathes of Waterstones shelves now devoted to 'misery lit' ('Fighting Back - how I survived a scratch on the leg', 'My struggle against a nasty cough' etc) and phone ins where the presenter and half the listenership feels cheated if the caller doesn't burst into tears within ten seconds and there we go.......

Odd that you should mention "phone ins" as  I am currently writing a book titled "My Struggle Against Making Traumatic Phone Ins" .. It goes on to the shelves on 31st November.

In all seriousness, I'd rather take the consequences of keeping schtum and relying on myself than give a complete stranger so much as the steam off my piss, much less crying in front of a them.

Sometimes and for some people, it's not good to talk.

Trauma counselling became a thing on the railway in the early 1990s. Prior to that if you were involved in a fatality you would simply be asked if you are ok or if you wanted to be relieved and go home for the rest of the day and that was it. Come the early 1990s and cunts were trained to trauma counsel people straight after the incident and talk through what had happened and how it had affected them. That's when all the trouble started, people no longer able to put things in a little packet in the back of their minds .. in some cases drivers who had, had previous fatalities without problems ended up packing the job in because of the trauma created by these trauma counselors making them talk through everything.

Agreed. Both my grandfathers were blown up and survived, one at Biggin Hill, and the other on a minesweeper in 1946 after the war, so plenty of respect to the old boy.

If I may say without taking the piss.. your grandad seems to have been unlucky to be imprisoned by a bunch of japs who were cutting off fingers, seemingly unaware that the English hadn't used archers in warfare since the 16th century.

I finally acquired my narcissistic psychopathy last autumn, and things have been brilliant.  I recommend everybody get themselves a mental illness.

Nope, the story goes, he refused to work as officers didn’t have to under the Geneva Convention.    However, Japan was not a signature to that Convention, so they chopped fingers off until he agreed to work.   Got to number three before he agreed.   That’s minerals infront of the troops.
