WOW, whoooo! Look at our brand new empress of the seas, all 70,600 tonnes of her and at a cost of £6.2bn (estimated of course)

I expect it's for our defence and to deter any invasion, by cruising The Solent to intercept crewed inflatable craft before they unload their foreign cargo of migrants at Hayling Island. I cannot see any other reason for having the vessel, less of course to make some cunt rich in a few years time once it's become yet another rust-bucket and been decommissioned as being un-fit for use. Mind you, it may even be hit by a rogue Chinese Junk whilst picking up stranded Cockling-Cocklers at Morecombe Bay.

What they fail to mention is that whilst the ship is all very fancy and state-of-the-art, the aircraft that will be stationed to her are F35-B, basically a yank ripoff of the old Harrier design... so why do they need a big fucking runway in the first place? The old Invincible class could launch VTOL aircraft just fine, so why did it cost £6 billion to build what is essentially a huge, slow moving, target?

You've hit the nail on its head. The ship's not for us, it's for the Yanks to use.

Bloody silly if you ask me... If they wanted to build big, useless ships, then they should have re-comissioned the King-George class battleships. At least they looked impressive.

Guest Lady Penelope

Back in the mid 1960s we had two highly advanced aircraft. TRS2 that was already flying under test and the P1154 which was a supersonic version of Harrier that was fairly close to the build and test stage. Both were abandoned .. the stories were that Lord Mountbatten did not like them. We did of course do well with the harriers but the order for the american built alternative to TSR2 the F111 was eventually cancelled.

Exactly. Who needs aircraft carriers in this day & age, save for me.

Even if they'd deployed the ship to London Bridge it wouldn't have taken-out White Van Man. It is armoured Escort Vans this country needs to thwart our foes.

The chinks are quiye good at making big things seem rather small, they will probably fit it into a toothpaste tube.

It's called "Strong and Stable" ... oh hang on a minute

That's what the Argies said about the General Belgrano, and it probably was until they refitted it's hull with glass so they could keep an eye on their Air Force.

If we purchased it from Korea, then its constructed from plywood or cast resin, anyway I digress...

Punkers downstairs cloakroom is painted in the same Dulux non-drip colour-shade of Fade to Grey, which is both seamen absorptive & cunt-juice repellent.

It is also most probably considered to be a weapon of stealth with a cloaking device, so we can sneak up on the enemy and catch them by surprise.

It is beautiful and we will have 2 of them. Half of the reason for building them is to keep a shit load of ship builders in work. They are prestigious as fuck and will help me to rebuild my empire.

Rule Britannia ya cynical cunts.

Punkers would be beside him self on this. All those young men and seamen! In reality the boot necks would tow him out to sea for a bit of GPMG practice

She's gonna go up in flames, I tell ya!

Unless my eyes deceive me, that is the good ship Grenfell. Not only is the craft awash with a highly volatile & combustible cargo, but she's also been decked from Port to Aft with Kensington & Sons council cladding.

The British government had no involvement in building this, there aren't any potholes, speed humps or mini-roundabouts.

In the interests of equal opportunity, other coloured lines are available.

I think I can see a 'gatso' speed camera at the end of that ramp.

That wouldn't surprise me, the MOD probably has it's own elf n safety shithead department, they probably go around putting yellow and black tape round gun barrels so squaddies know which is the dangerous end.
