Statistics will show your premise is nonsense. All you have done is cherry-pick aberrations to the norm. FTR Onasanya served one third of her sentence before being released on tagged curfew - quite normal considering the nature of the offence and having no prior convictions. Her parliamentary career is over having been sacked under the terms of the Recall of MP's Act 2015. That said, it's disheartening to see people lose their livelihoods over careless words made on the net, sometimes years after the event.
  2. Precisely, all this hero worship for a bunch of thugs grubbing around for loose change. True power lies with those who have knowledge and the control of knowledge.

@Monumental cunt, not for the first time, you are off the site for a Rule 12 violation. Cya in a month's time.
  4. Aside from your post being below the normal Ratty standard, please provide evidence of "making up the rules" to win an argument.

    Julian Assange.

He has the right to plead the fifth, but not only would that be politically embarrassing for the President it would also lay bare American hypocrisy.

    Julian Assange.

On the face of it this story is a distraction to the bigger picture. Questions must surely be asked why Jack Shepherd received six months for skipping bail prior to sentencing for manslaughter while Assange got nearly double that over unproven allegations. It'll be interesting how the USA proceeds. It must have occurred to the Americans that if they successfully extradite Assange then any decent defence attorney will subpoena the President to explain what he meant by saying, "I love Wikileaks" before quoting stolen material in furtherance of his presidential election campaign.

Never mind your own reading between the lines, suggestions and insinuations... Given the way you've twisted the facts to suit your narrative and an outdated mind-set that would make even DCI Gene Hunt wince, I'd say The End Violence Against Women Coalition have their work cut out in changing attitudes.
  8. I dunno, working class stock from the Valleys me. But I've worked hard and worked my way up to be hideously white, bourgeois and condescending. I also married a posh bloke, which was nice.
  9. On the rare occurrence they happen I do own and acknowledge any mistakes I've made. I also act quickly when punters lodge an appeal so when you apologise and withdraw your intemperate remarks I'll look into the matter. Until then, you can drown in your own pool of tantrum tears.
  10. Please do not make accusations or otherwise infer, imply or indirectly suggest paedophilia against any punter.
  11. He obviously has business acumen but this simply has not worked well on the diplomatic and international stage. Latterly, Trump has made money from marketing the Trump brand and a TV reality show. He started lucky with a massive inheritance from Trump Snr and then there is a small matter of six Chapter 11 bankruptcies. The last part is complex but essentially he kept the assets and had the debts written off.
  12. This is part of cut & paste job authored by a right wing cartoonist published as an op-ed in the centrist USA Today. Even when the article was written in December 2017 it was misleading at best and untruthful at worst. Aside that the positive economic indicators can be credited to the Obama era, the picture now tells a completely different story. Incidentally the Dakota pipeline commenced construction more than a year before Trump won office, the Keystone XL project is on hold. In truth Trump has proven to be a poor mediocre president when comparing key economic indicators. What has made him on course to be one of the worst presidents ever is his so-called ability to strike a deal failing on the international stage and his very public tantrums on social media. He also appears to have a highly selective memory and is incapable of mastering detail.

I never said that it was illegal to kill all birds. I was very careful to say the birds as itemised in your OP. As for gamekeepers, whilst some are interested in conservation one should bear in mind they are paid primarily to protect and nurture game birds who exist for no other reason than to be shot for pleasure. Some gamekeepers have been prosecuted for bothering endangered raptor nests. I have nothing against game hunting so long as the hunters are prepared to eat what they kill. There is no moral justification for organising shoots for profit or shooting wildlife for pleasure.

    Wild Justice

It has been illegal to kill the birds since 1981. Wild Justice's issue is that under Natural England's terms of reference in giving statutory authority to grant shooting licences they were obliged to investigate that all other solutions in controlling certain species had been explored. It was found that Natural England were relying on applicants to mark their own homework. One of the problems of eco-biz is that the number eco-consultancies have proliferated. Most eco-consultancies don't actually undertake valuable research for the betterment of the planet. They exist to provide greenwash to industry and commerce such is the demand for business to issue mission statements on sustainability and impact statements on the environment. The paid-for eco guardians have, in some cases done more ham than good to the environment in providing greenwash. The most recent example of this in the UK is the emergence of power generators fuelled by biomass pellets, ostensibly a "green" fuel. In fact it spews out more greenhouse gases than coal. Wild Justice are simply ensuring that rules that have been place for nearly forty years are being followed in accordance with legislation.

We really don't want to see this type of derailment two minutes after a nom is uploaded so cut it out.
  16. @Earl of Punkape, granted you are a needy individual but to reactivate a moribund punkape.exe nom is one thing but to bump it via a clichéd Corner retort three years after the event is taking the piss. Thread locked.
  17. Some of you lot need to calm down otherwise something will be said that is regretted later...
  18. @King Billy, please avoid phrases like "I've heard" or "someone told me". Even better, avoid libellous comments.
  19. I don't believe you. Try that again and you'll be off site for a while.
  20. Eh? This yet another scare story about t'interent control by the state. In fact this item, which was hardly "smoke screened" in, is about the EU Copyright Directive which is all about protecting content creators having their work replicated for free. The directive was pushed by the printed press who having paid journalists to source and report news, found their copy was being replicated by news aggregators for free. Local news titles were especially hit and many local newspapers closed as a result. Most of us understand the need to copywrite material yet people seem to think they are entitled to read news content for free on the www. There was controversy surrounding articles 11 & 13 of the directive as doomsayers were saying this would signal the end of internet memes, however the directive allows for this.
  21. Winter is here...well on Monday, anyway. I like GoT as well - its a ripping good yarn.
  22. Marvellous, I like Star Wars, me, though I can live without the add-on films which cash in on the main franchise.
