CCArchive
There is, allegedly, legislation in existence to protect employees who come forward in the public interest to report dodgy practice in their place of work. The government seems now to be sneaking in a bit of legislation to determine just how much in the public interest this whistle blowing needs to be (clause 14). This could mean that people who are a bit too close to anything embarrasing or sensitive can be dismissed (in several ways) as being scurrilous, bad workers or incompetent. The hearing in court will be held in camera in front of a judge. Therefore, nothing will change. Health boards and government depts must be jumping up and down with delight. Latest thing is the bloke who has shouted misdeal over the Tax deal done on a handshake with Goldman Sachs which essentially halves their tax bill, 20mill down to 10 mill. They are hanging the bloke out to dry although he is currently supposedly protected by whistle blower legislation, What a fucking farce , he is about as protected as Serpico, as indeed are the rest of us. Who would be a whistleblower and what price integrity?
