Infinite vector spaces

Things like Fourier series and Fourier transforms are infinite vector spaces, that engineers might use, but because engineers are thick, they don't know what a vector space is, let alone an infinite one. Sufficient it is to say that an infinite vector space is a troublesome little cunt, especially when applied to Lie algebras over the set of real numbers rather than Lie algebras over the complex numbers. Tricky little fucker.
