Disparity in Sentencing

I've just read this local story about someone called Kwang Nguyen who has been imprisoned for a poxy four months for drink driving three times over the limit with a baby in the back of his E type mercedes. He was already banned from driving and has four previous convictions of driving drunk and driving whilst disqualified. Yet someone got 6 months imprisonment for stealing a bottle of water during the riots and another person got a 250,000 fine for chopping a tree down in his garden without permission. The court was told that when Nguyen starts drinking he doesn't know when to stop. He would stop drinking alright when I poured Domestos down his throat.
