Totally oblivious to the irony of the situation you rather lamely replied that, "if someone feels bullied by it, then they should not be posting here". Ah, the stock-reply "we're only sorting out the wheat from the chaff". Two things; firstly who asked for a "welcoming committee" to do such selfless work? Secondly its annoying to see punters join up, make a post only to be surrounded by the same bunch of baying hyenas who then pat each other on the back whilst attempting to justify their actions. Quite simply the site needs to grow its membership count and thereby provide a more varied and interesting discourse rather than the tedious and repetitive advice on self-harm.
I have always maintained that one should shoot the message and not the messenger. I realise that for some of you the idea of providing a thoughtful, witty and insightful counter argument to a POV is a lot harder than simply telling someone to "fuck off" or variations thereof but the bullying, especially to newbies, has got to stop.

No I don't, but Mr Pratchett wasn't shy about saying he would choose when he dies. He was extremely vocal about it and campaigned to have the law changed, he spoke about it in pretty much every interview he gave in recent years. Made a TV program about it, in which he spoke to people who had signed up with Dignitas, visited Dignitas and witnessed someone die.
He had a rare form of Alzheimer's that fucked his vision and coordination, leaving him pretty much unable to do anything for himself. He always said he couldn't bear the thought of being a burden, and he couldn't write anymore, which left him with no purpose. You don't die from Alzheimer's, it became too much and he decided that enough was enough.
Fine, then please do not present personal unfounded suspicious as fact because it is libellous. One mo' thing, saying "you don't die from Alzheimer's is like saying you don't die from Aids. In Pratchett's case he died from age related symptoms bought on early due to the disease.

This is going to be an unpopular post but its just as well to remember that monsters such as these are also out there, recently the spotlight has been on the cunts of predominately Pakistani origin for abusing young girls and quite rightly so, but these sort of sexual predators are within all ethnic groups and age groups.......
Indeed, only a couple of days ago a group of white men between the ages of 31 and 51 were sentenced to prison terms of between 2 and 24 years. All those convicted had solid Anglo-Saxon names.

I feel a degree of sympathy for Mr Macdonald who seems to fall foul of the problem of instant messaging that can be shared/re-tweeted before having a chance of reflection and withdrawing ill-judged comments.
As for the the accident its unwise to speculate the cause - clearly insufficient lift in relation to ground clearence at the end of the manoeuvre which can be a result of many different reasons or indeed a combination of factors.

Hmm, it takes a bit more to get banned merely for criticising me. Notwithstanding that I suspect that my banning record is no more severe than other Admin/mods. As for my "humour" (or lack of ) I did allow myself a silent chuckle when I noticed that previously you were kind enough to afford me some "likes" when I have awarded bans to others. Therein lies the nub of the problem - you chortle when I crack the whip against punters you don't like yet when I call you to task you moan about democracy, earning respect and being humour deficient. Now you may think that I'm a power crazed pre-menopausal bitch who forgot to take her HRT meds but actually I try to be impartial which is fine to all - most people accept that and take my judgments on the chin, a few turn out to be stroppy little divas.
Earlier on in this thread I asked that you guys "cut it out". You guys didn't and carried on winding up a newbie to point that he lost it and got suspended. Brilliant. No doubt the welcoming committee will add yet another notch to their keyboards. Bullying, especially of newbies, is a problem and it is going to stop. The site needs to grow. Newbies are precious little seedlings who need nurturing and time for them to grow roots and develop thorns before they can flower in the stony ground that is The Corner. Overworked analogies aside I'm just a gardener and will prune where necessary.
