Whatever the reason is the end result is the same. Every house I have lived in has always had radiators placed under the windows. This must be the most ineffective place you can put one other than outside the fucking house. Warm air rises and and consequently gets neutralised by the cold spot where the windows are. Shut the curtains and that just fucking compounds the problem. Long curtains and the warm air goes up the back and out the fucking window, short curtains and the convection billows them and the warm air goes up the back and out the fucking window (YES I SHUT THE FUCKING WINDOW) It's pissing money away on already ludicrous gas bills.
