  1. Deep down its the normal Panzerbollox. Remembrance Day (previously Armistice Day) is commemorated on 11/11 by all Commonwealth countries and few others including France & USA (known as Veteran's Day). Strangely enough, the Poppy thing originated from the USA but hasn't taken on to the extent seen in Britain.

Your treatment is taking its time to have any effect.
  3. Utter nonsense on so many levels, you even contradict yourself in the first sentence.

Good first nom - word of advice; it would have been just as effective if you restricted the post to the first and last two paragraphs. My youngest, who commutes between Warrington and N.Wales has an issue with the train service, not only for the piss-poor reliability but also with the systemic culture of corporate indifference. Initially she was fobbed off, but having studied the compensation rules takes no shit from anybody and now regularly receives compo cheques with no questions asked.

    Yeah, that might work.

Didn't you recently do the same on Admin's profile?

Moreover, Messrs @Decimus & @Stubby Pecker should leave each other's better halves out the schoolboy slanging match.

Well, we've seen the very best you can do, straw man clichés included so there is nowt for me to consider.

Congratulations are in order as you have just graduated from the School of Empty Threats. Fellow alumni include Patroller, The Colonel and more recently, sean5302 all equally unimpressive blow-hards who promised Armageddon (but not today).

It must have been a long fuck. You could have written what you had to say in the time you posted this load of pony which surely should be filed under the "sorry Miss, the dog ate my homework" list of implausible excuses.

    Freight trains.

That would require a heavy duty "fuzzy logic" programme and I'm guessing the contents of the CC cash tin amount to no more than a button and a Polo mint right now. We are a broad church but that said I noticed a gadget in the Admin's play room whilst undertaking culling duties a few weeks ago. This nifty piece of customisable software would restrict a selected punter to say, three posts per day. I'm conscious of the fact that there are a number of punters who seem single-minded not only in subject matter but also towards another person. The benefits to the CC Behavioural Insights Unit are obvious - it would act as a conditioning tool in ensuring selected punters are more circumspect in their postings... At present, I'm minded not to use it, not for the reason that its unnecessarily cruel, but it does undermine freedom of speech.
  12. Some posts have been denied. You were warned about your behaviour, but still carried on regardless. You got off lightly and your response has been to bitch and moan to whoever might listen. I don't do "revenge" - that's unprofessional.
  13. Calm down, you daft twat, even if true, one swallow a summer does not make. The butt-hurt council comptroller of paper-clips was selectively grasping at straws.
  14. I agree. I thought we had the makings of a sensible discussion between two punters with polar opposite POV's - rare on a site like this. However, since you have essentially repeated yourself over three longish posts and are now resorting to trivialising, it seems you have nothing left to offer.
  15. I've never indicated otherwise, I'd thought my own agnostic stance would be obvious. Finding another bandwagon to jump on would be a good idea for you.
  16. If and when there are signs that you are responding to treatment. So far I've seen no indication of this. Anyway, bugger off, I've smaller fish to fry...
  17. I had to look the word up Stubbs...clearly WC and I are on different planes.
  18. One thing I found about really clever people, the enlightened and those who make things happen is that they look beyond the "facts" and refuse to be shackled by them. Then there are those who need the security blanket of facts - that is your opiate or placebo. You are not free, you are bound by convention.
  19. You do make me chuckle WC. On the contrary, you appear to have a closed mind. Its not that you accuse a group of highly intelligent people known for mastering complex concepts of having a "poor education and a lack of critical thinking", its the way you conflate spirituality and science, real and not so real. Benchmarking one with the other on idle assumptions is probably not a good idea. I say this as a humanist, but as I said previously, I understand why individuals have faith. Some make that decision after careful thought and contemplation. That's fine by me as long as I'm not subjected to religious ideology. The flip side is that I would not attempt to ridicule an individual's faith.

    Grenfell Tower

The CPS might get away with charging the perps with outraging public decency under the Common Law Act only if the offence was carried out in an area accessible by the general public. Possession of a chav mentality is not illegal.

Technically, its owned by on-line retailer VictoriaPlum.com.
  22. Why are scientists who have faith hypocritical? You can only make such an assertion if you possess all known and undiscovered knowledge, in which case you would be God. Your position assumes that faith, irrespective of religion, is an literal acceptance of holy scriptures. The Christian Bible is at best, a collection of fables and parables. How that is interpreted and used to dictate to the masses is where problems occur but that can also apply to secular writings, the most obvious is philosophical communism. True faith should be personal and not be codified to control others. Here's a list of Christians who have contributed in the advancement of knowledge - all peer reviewed, some have won prestigious scientific awards including the Nobel prize. Some will have shaped your life one way or another, all driven by faith. Some have looked at the very foundations of mass, energy and life and yet they know mankind has barely scratched the surface in trying to understand being.
  23. I don't want to go all existentialist but there are many renowned scientific thinkers who have faith including eminent astronomers, particle and theoretical physicists. The more facts are discovered leads to the realisation that we know very little. Strange this may be but faith can fill the void and make sense of what we know.
  24. Well, that was entertaining if nothing else. Not sure you've done yourself any favours.
  25. Clearly you've suffered the ignominy of having a partner whispering sympathetically in your ear, "is it in yet?"
