Foreign nationals who have committed serious crimes will no longer be able to use the freedoms under the Human Rights Act to justify remaining in the UK. Strasbourg's will not be able to overrule decisions made by parliament and the courts, such as lifting the ban on prisoners' voting rights or banning whole-life sentences for serious crimes.
