Well, yes one can, sort of. Not forgetting that Ted Heath was a rabid European integrationist, Mrs Thatcher who was always sceptical about the EEC was, against her better judgment, persuaded by successive chancellors, Geoffrey Howe, Nigel Lawson and then John Major to sign up to the ERM (a mechanism designed to align European states for economic and monetary union and the single currency). As we know, the UK ignominiously dropped out of the ERM on Black Wednesday. Mrs Thatcher was also reluctant to sign up to any further integration but was forced out of her premiership to be replaced by John Major, who aided and abetted by rapid pro Europeans, Deputy PM Heseltine, Chancellor Ken Clarke and Foreign Secretary Douglas Hurd, signed up to the Maastricht Treaty. To placate a minority but vocal and powerful Tory rebel base (famously described by Major as "The Bastards") Major negotiated that the word "Federal would be omitted from the document, hence "European Union" rather than "Federal Union of European States". Major also negotiated an opt out of joining the Euro Zone. It was (and still is) argued that Major should have asked the country via a referendum prior to signing Maastricht due to the level of sovereignty being transferred to Brussels.

I'm afraid the most you'll get is a conviction of corporate manslaughter against Kensington Council, despite their attempts to pass the buck to the landlords Kensigton & Chelsea Tenant Management Organisation. If you are looking for individuals serving jail time then criminal negligence needs to be proven.

Interesting nom. It'll be interesting to see how this pans out. The small clip offered shows TR and his ilk doing what they are prone to do, twisting context of what was said. We couldn't hear what Sweeney had to say in his defence as TR wouldn't let him speak and simply talked over him.

Kicked into long grass. Proving who's been guilty of dereliction of the duty of care is problematic as legal teams of the many actors involved have been successful in passing the culpability parcel.
  6. I'd say he has plenty of imagination...and vision; sold his forum for just short of £90million then made a further £25million by selling what was left of his shareholding in Money Supermarket - not bad for a journalist.
  7. Maybe, but you were being honest as well...
  8. To fair to Mr Lewis I've never done that either.
  9. Go to the "Bugs" board and look for the nom, "my attachments again" - all will be explained. BTW any technical queries should be presented there as all you have done is hijack your own nom with discourse irrelevant to the subject header.
  10. Its not rocket science; using the advanced search facility, type "Lewis" and tick the "titles only" filter button.
  11. The entire Brexit debate is riddled with insightless no doubt due the country never having been in this situation before. If the economic ramifications were clear cut then there would not be the degree of polarisation and divisiveness prevalent that we are seeing now. As for Rees-Mogg, he's freely admitted that he's virtually unelectable as a potential PM due to his beliefs driven by his faith. Ultimately, he is not a sound-bite politician preferring instead to argue on detail.

Ah then you'll be needing these. I don't know about HRT tantrums, but I know when a lying idiot spouts BS

No I don't. I haven't said anything that "supersedes doctrine". Not for the first time you present a strawman argument so job done as far as I'm concerned. I'll pass up on Bridget Jones, maybe you should resume your dear hunting game. I'm given to understand you enjoy make-believe.

Only you can answer that, you're the one who has been choosing verses and quoting them. Also I have made no such assertion or opinion that you have described. FYI there is an ongoing debate/discussion amongst Islamic scholars over whether the Quran or the Hadith take precedence. There are some who believe the Hadith (mostly compiled 200-800 years after the Prophet's death) supersedes the Quran or at least codifies the Quran whilst most believe the Quran provides all remedies be it legal or religious as the Quran has declared it self "complete and detailed". It seems all you have done is follow the NF/EDL habit of cherry picking the more extremist interpretations of Islamic doctrine as promulgated by the Wahhabists of Saudi Arabia and Isis and have assumed all Muslims are like-minded. As you know, the indigenous inhabitants of what used to be Isis controlled territory rejected Whahhabism and suffered greatly in the caliphate as a result. I'm bored schooling you, lets hope you are not clutching any more straws.

2 282 This differentiates the legal validity of men and women with a man's testimony carrying greater weight. 24 4 This about punishing people who commit slander without witnesses by questioning a virgin's chasteness 24 13 Ditto 2 223 Very similar to Christian teachings - part of the marriage vows is that a woman should honour and obey the man. None of this encourages rape and paedophilia. This is rather like a brainless crime news reporter saying that every time he goes to a murder scene the police are always there therefore I deduce that the police did the crime. @Couldn't give a shit, this morning you've come onto the site and seemingly picked fights with everyone on a thread that hasn't been touched for a week. I don't know what the intention was but suffice to say it has failed. The only thing you have done is make yourself like a complete pillock. Your brain simply does not have the power to cope with the demands of your ego.

You are so hell bent on revenge and retribution that you have forgotten what this argument is about. If you recall you originally said that the Quran "encourages rape and paedophilia". I suggested that it did not. You then quoted some text from the Quran which turned out to be something completely different to your original premise. You also made out that rape and paedophilia was part of Islamic teachings. The teachings, "The Five Pillars of Islam" makes no mention of this. Getting nowhere except to confirm your intellectual retardation you then changed tack and raised the issue of Aisha's age at the time of consummating her relationship with the Prophet. I indicated that this might be mentioned in one of the Hadith. You then very kindly, though I suspect inadvertently, proved my point by sourcing the text from a hadith and compounded your error by saying these were the words of Aisha herself! In fact these were the words of a historian / re-teller of Islamic folklore written some 230 years after Aisha was born. You now say the Adhira "more or less concur with The Bukhari" but don't say which ones. FYI The Sira is not a Hadith. As I intimated previously, Aisha's age is a matter of conjecture best left to Islamic scholars. As yet you still haven't said where the Quran "encourages rape and paedophilia" As for your last para, saying you "know when somebody is using multi accounts" does not cut the mustard. How do you know? Where's your evidence? Simply repeating the accusation is not proof.
  17. That's really up to you, no?
  18. Interestingly, Dr Bateman's Wikipedia page has some factual errors, but point taken, I'll henceforth only use the internet for which it was created for - surfing porn and seeking out pictures of amusing cats and kittens. Well, I realised that your recent schoolboy petulance was borne out of pique from having a post moderated but it has been repeatedly stressed that any reference to a punter and paedophilia, no matter how oblique, is going to be removed.
  19. She has a odd view (IMHO) as why leaving the EU reduces individual freedoms, Rees-Mogg has an opposite opinion. TBH much of the debate was about the most effective soundbites
  20. Setting aside the naked debate I for one would pay money to see them argue the issues. Both unfailingly polite and courteous to a fault they are equally blessed with razor-sharp minds. There would be no ya-boo politicking, just measured and interesting debate.
  21. Strangely enough the only time I see these couples is in a supermarket. Usually the young wife is from the Philippines and both look miserable as sin though she seems to be making the decisions and taking the lead whilst his role is to get the wallet out at the checkout.
  22. Shock as Bill Stupid is still stupid. Dr Bateman is a passionate Remainer. As for getting our respective rats out I can only speak for my self, suffice to say these days my behavioural quirk is mostly under control. Mostly.
  23. Good point. I have an opinion why she commits to naked lectures but I'm not going to comment. She's right that economists never agree on anything, but FWIW I pay more attention of economists who work in industry rather than the cloistered rarefied world of academia.
  24. Ah, I've just added "pert-breasted" to the description of the women that all you guys squire.
