The sentences for many crimes are, in the view of some, lenient, We have one of the highest incarceration rates per capita in Europe, but in the middle compared to the rest of the world. I understand mistrust of our learned friends in the judiciary, but if guidelines are issued by the ministry of justice, he or she must consider them when sentencing.
