Who is this Snowden Johnny? Someone who has pissed off Uncle Sam but is in no way the Mr Big they believe him to be, we know that, they want to make sure of that. Julian Assange is hiding under the table in the Ecuadorian embassy for the same reason and various coves of islamic leanings are still stumbling around in chains in guantanamo for similar. They wouldn't have done it to Putin's jet, irrespective of who they might have thought was on board and France and Portugal wouldn't have closed their air space either....Big dog -little dog.
