  1. Well now, our ruling elite will be monkeying around within UK shores speaking English whereas your ruling elite be 500 miles away from Dublin monkeying in unfamiliar languages as they pontificate what you can or cannot do for the Dáil's relevance and authority is eroding to that of a parish council. At least the Irish can determine how many pencil sharpeners each school can have, at least for now 'cos your EU masters do have a habit of intruding into everything and they do love uniformity for all...
  2. Its pointless bandying around stereotypes have been redundant for more than thirty years, Panz - in any case the UK have bigger issues with entitled rather than the titled. These days the meritocracy control the levers not the aristocracy.
  3. I think the problem is your life is without meaning unless you are subjugated - the conformity of catholic doctrinaire, the weight of the British jackboot and now impalement by the eurocrat's pen. The bloody-minded British OTOH, don't like being told what to do by foreigners.
  4. Wriggle all you like, your own photographic evidence did you in.
  5. I have a realistic opinion of elected parliamentarians, Panz. I also understand that through the democratic process the electorate can remove individuals and controlling parties. Such voter power will count for nothing for the Irish. Even if you replaced all your MEP's you have no such say in reining in the remaining 750 who will continue to legislate in all aspects of life. As for getting rid of a poor-performing executive the Irish influence will amount to zero. Can I ask precisely what the UK "reaped"? You appear to imply that Eire voted to remain and surrender monetary control just to "get one over the Brits" - hardly realistic.
  6. ...not for the first time, a slight shift in the timeline there, MC. This time next year your 1930's council estate abode will be 18th to early 19th century.
  7. Here's the problem CG, I don't readily take hairstyling advice from a bloke who wears skirts and identifies himself as a woman.
  8. At this stage, no-one knows what The EU is ready to do. Don't listen to political trash talk on either side - the real fight is behind closed doors. How long have you been a "realist"? It seems realism has betrayed the idealism that begat the Easter Uprising and hard fought independence. Less than a hundred years have elapsed before you gave up your currency and swore allegiance to your Euro masters. The signatories of The Proclamation must be turning in their graves.
  9. "Human Rights Law" is in fact 18 articles and conventions agreed by way of international treaty between the 47 member Council of Europe. The laws are enforced by the European Court of Human Rights and is separate from the 28 member European Union and the European Court of Justice. @Panzerknacker is a butt-hurt Anglophobe who has belatedly realised that the Emerald Isle is merely a prefecture of the United States of Europe in all but name.
  10. Having spent a decade living in the Cotswolds, I'm well aware what constitutes a rural aspect address in that part of the world. However as we are talking about a street at The Brickworks Estate, then "Terrace" it is.
  11. Dreadful. This is a cheap nom fuelled by ignorance, bigotry and no doubt by the OP's own issues. Incidentally The Scouts is available to both boys and girls. When my son was with the Explorers section, females made up half the numbers. I have nothing but admiration of volunteers who give up their time to run the Girl Guides and Scout troops.
  12. All punters have their eccentricities, 'eavens, it adds to the charm of The Corner. Your issue is not knowing when to stop.
  13. In your dreams, MC. All Right To Buy householders and council tenants at Ironstone Terrace don't have driveways - they all park in the street.
  14. ...and not unexpectedly. Forum flouncers are like floaters.
  15. Based on previous behaviours I would disagree. Whilst in the RW you may well be a model citizen displaying the traits of a balanced individual, here at The Corner you're a bit barking.
  16. One can only hope that this is your chef d'oeuvre with regards to Frank in general and canine allusions in particular. For your own sake, tone it down 'cos your obsession is making you look unhinged.
  17. Until the USA joined the allies in Europe during the latter stage of WW1 it had supplied much needed materials and money, principally to the UK. As for paying loans back, well, the thing about magic money trees is that the fruit will wither unless the tree is constantly watered and nurtured.
  18. As I understand it, UK war debt to the US was settled in December 2006 and all war debt was cleared when the last of the War Bonds was finally redeemed in 2015.
  19. Hmm, let's remind ourselves how you called it, Now let's see how Clarkson calls it in his review. What was it I warned about you making stuff up? Yet here we are... That said, I'll take on board your point about "correct names" so hence forth I'll apply the generic "middle-aged fantasist's wet-dream" whenever discussing whatever posh motor you purport to drive.
  20. ...five minutes is a long time at 'Corner...
  21. Indeed, that said there are certain subjects that are best avoided when accessing that otherwise excellent site. Wiki is one thing but you wouldn't believe the favours I called to alter Hansard and the CIA World Factbook on the off chance that a punter was checking up on me.
  22. Part of me can't help wondering that some of the recent mischievous and idle speculation about you elsewhere is closer to home than we imagined. If not, then you are indeed a brittle diva prone to flouncing. Anyway, back to the debate, except there is no debate because for all your BS about The Corner being a debate forum, you've suddenly dropped the current argument when called out. I actually like a good debate and can argue 'til the cows come home. The difference between you and I is that I back up my POV with verifiable facts whereas you invent any old pony to support your argument. This would not normally be a problem except due to your pathological name-dropping you ascribe words and actions to real life individuals even if contrary to the known facts. Enjoy and reflect on your self-imposed sabbatical. If and when you return you will still find yourself in the Mod Q until you can satisfy us that you can post responsibly.
