The Philpott Vigil

Technically covered this with the "Mawkishness" thread, but this was so distasteful it deserves special mention. Mick Philpott, Serial shagger and baby producer extraordinaire, shared a house with two women and the 15 or so children they jointly spawned. He was named and shamed by The Sun newspaper at one point in time. This pretty much unified the British population in condemning him and his hedonistic lifestyle. All the people on his street will have put their heads down as they walked past him on the street and spoken behind his back in an unfavorable way. Tragically Philpott has just had a large number of his kids wiped out in a terrible house fire and all the people who condemned him have now turned up outside his house with the usual morbid assortment of false grief effigies. An army of teddy bears moodily lit by a sea of candles. At 11.15 last night Philpotts house was cordoned off and manned by police as Sky news delivered their report watched on by hundreds of "mourners" all stood there silently exuding fake grief in the dark. Frankly its sickening.
