This guy's qualifications were that he once worked in a brick factory. 

These free energy fools always need the sort of downtrodden schtick to make their shit work. They're fighting against a system (rather than simply the laws of thermodynamics) that doesn't want their "secret" to be out there.

Novas, Sierras, Orions, those shitty Rovers (214s I think?). The locals are probably just starting to get into 'Acid House' and think Trainspotting is the hottest film of the year.

The police car with the old fashioned lamp box on the top appears to be an Austin Maestro, that must have struck terror into the hearts of the local teenagers who'd just nicked a Sierra Cosworth, or an Escort RS 1600i.
