    Andrew Marr

Not sure what you are saying. Yes Marr was there to ask the questions, Johnson wanted to decide what he was going to talk about and that's not how interviews work.

    Andrew Marr

Back in the day when Cameron, Osborne and Johnson were members The Bullingdon Club was much more than a student drinking club. It was a society of over privileged thugs whose idea of a good night out was to book at table at a restaurant run by the "hard working people" they pretend now to champion, have a good meal, then smash the place up. These are also the hypocrites now lecturing us about law and order.

    Andrew Marr

I saw the interview too, Johnson told Marr at one point "I'm going to tell you what I'm going to cover". Marr made it clear that he asks the questions and decides what they cover. Boris was, not for the first time, trying it on. The Bullingdon Club bully was coming out and Marr nipped it in the bud.
  4. Yes, psychotics have always been attracted to religion. Ask any psychiatrist and they will tell you for example that in an average year they come into contact with a number of messiahs. In those brought up in the Christian religion being Jesus or believing that Jesus is talking to them is very common. Charles Manson even believed that the Beatles were recordings songs in Abbey Road giving him instructions to kill FFS. Doubtless in India psychiatrists meet many reincarnations of The Lord Krishna etc.
  5. Not sure how I got involved in this thread. I haven't gone to one as such, but I did accidentally get caught up in one in Soho some years ago. It seemed like a joyful, happy, celebratory event, not somewhere people were out to spread dogma or gay propaganda. That's why it's just called Pride these days, it's not solely about being gay, just the right to be proud of what you are and what you choose to be. Of course this doubtless upsets the bigots, racists, homophobes, and all the miserable, uptight, small minded people who feel superior and think that anyone who is unlike themselves should be ashamed. Frankly they can go fuck themselves as far as I'm concerned. And no as it happens I'm not gay, but if I was it's my right to be and none of your business.
  6. Cheer up they said, things could be worse. So I cheered up and sure enough things got worse.
  7. I'm not sure what else you want to know. You have been given the reason we were given, whether or not you choose to believe it is entirely down to you. Maybe you do or maybe you think it's a monumental porkie pie of Melton Mowbray proportions. No point in asking me, ask the people who took the decision. Your are wrong though when you say it was a choice between us going or Spotter going, that option was never on the cards.
  8. Been there recently. It's bad enough that the only way you can get a drink after a long day at work is by yourself in a miserable little bedroom, but adding insult to injury by charging £4.50 for a supercilious "night porter" in a stupid tailcoat to bring you a plastic glass and a little bottle of beer that costs a fiver for a pack of ten in the local supermarket is taking the piss.
  9. It's nice to be appreciated.
  10. I've largely stayed out of this, but the accusation of "terrible moderation style style totally unsuited for this site" is unfair and impacts on me too. When the new version of CC was set up in March 2014 by the previous owner after the old Main Site software got done over by trolls he invited us to moderate it, presumably because he thought we had done a good job over the period of several years previously without scaring away the punters. He didn't have to. Nevertheless forums change and if the present owners think that my moderation style is unsuitable it's their right to remove me from the mod team and I don't have a problem with that. What I do find a bit sad is that I understood that we had the support of at least one of the new owners, but when push came to shove that support was not forthcoming. Either way sleep easy, I wont be coming back as a mod. They aren't going to ask me and I wouldn't feel happy about doing it now anyway.

    cherie blair

Not to mention a duplicitous Tory masquerading as a Labour Prime Minister, a liar, warmonger and traitor to The Labour Party.
  12. I must admit I find it difficult to recognise humour at times here Bill. Any chance you could tip me off when you're doing comedy so I get a chance to react?

    Syrian ceasefire

Assad is a cunt of monumental proportions, but the West needs to learn the lessons of the past. When we steamed in and disposed of twats like Saddam and Gaddafi we created a vacuum and that vacuum was filled with extremists like ISIS and Al Qaeda. All we can do right now is try to get some sort of aid in the form of food, water and medical supplies to Syria, anything else risks making things a whole lot worse, and that mean yet more asylum seekers heading to Europe.
  14. I'm not embarrassed about being called working class, I was born of working class parents and grandparents. Technically from the job I do I could describe myself as middle class but why should I? I work for a living, I was born working class ergo I am working class. This affliction for everyone claiming to be middle class comes from the US. Note that US politicians always talk of the plight of the middle classes when really they mean working classes.

    The Zika virus

You can't catch Zika virus from food, water or air - it is only spread by mosquitoes and maybe in rare cases sexually. Other than possibly causing microcephaly in newborn babies it's a far cry from deadly viruses like Ebola, usually causing nothing more sinister than mild fever, rash, conjunctivitis, and muscle pain.

    Muslim Britain

Yep, people who don't eat bacon or sausage sandwiches definitely includes vegetarians.

    Muslim Britain

Read the article. It put the 2005-10 fertility rate among UK Muslims at 3.0, which means that the average British Muslim had exactly three children in her lifetime, compared to 1.8 children for non-Muslim women. By 2030 the rate is predicted to fall to 2.5 for Muslims and remain at 1.8 for non-Muslims. Clearly this does suggest that there will be an increase in the size of the Muslim population, but the prediction comes a long way short of the numbers claimed by Mr Cooper. Assuming patterns of net immigration do not change significantly, the Pew Forum thinks that there will be just over 5.5 million British Muslims, representing 8.2 per cent of the UK population, by 2030.

    Muslim Britain

Well it's a good story to have an Islamophobic rant about. There's only one small problem, it isn't true. http://blogs.channel4.com/factcheck/factcheck-will-britain-have-a-muslim-majority-by-2050/13690
  19. Well that's OK if you believe that in a country as diverse as the US all of the best actors in the last two years just happened coincidentally be be white.
  20. I absolutely loved The Big Bang Theory, which is unusual because I don't usually find American comedy funny. The recent episodes have lost it though in my opinion, it was about four ultra-clever nerds with close to zero social skills, it doesn't work with them all having girlfriends etc. It really should have come to a natural end when everything changed and Sheldon went off on his railway trip. FYI I hate Kaley's short hair.
  21. His time in the army brought him into contact with many Indian and Pakistani people and he saw a funny side to them. Of course in the context of today that sketch is undoubtedly racist, but you can't really apply the morality of today to what happened 50 year ago. I'm pretty sure he didn't intend it to be offensive at the time. Don't forget that kids comics of that era showed cannibalistic "natives" boiling white missionaries alive in a giant pot. It's almost beyond belief now, but they did. The real twats are the people who still harbour the views of those bygone years, because they should know better.
  22. Because over the years Google have become more and more about making big money rather than providing a search engine. As someone once put it, in the early days if you searched for "put up shelving" you would get instructions about how to put up a shelf, now you get page after page of places to buy shelving from.

    David Bowie

RIP DB, we wont get your talent and brilliant music again - certainly not from the dross of One Dimension and Justin Bieber.
  24. In the spirit of what seems to have become Cookery Corner you can easily grow your own horseradish. If you do though, plant it in a big pot and not the the garden, otherwise it will have colonised the whole bloody street in a few years.
