  1. It's bollox though, just a soundbite. If the help was genuinely there I might agree with you, but it isn't. Giving people a 15 minute lecture on the evils of drugs and alcohol, then threatening them with losing their benefits isn't real help. Why do you think people subject themselves to the indignity of going on the dreadful Jeremy Kyle show to plead for help if help is already available? I was talking to someone, a ex-drummer as it happens, at the end of last year who had waited 18 months for a place in rehab and was desperate for help to clean up. The best they could offer him before that was methadone. If the government was serious about helping people with drug problems, which they're not, they would stop paying hairy arsed coppers overtime to kick peoples doors in at 6am and provide real treatment for addicts. In the long run it would save money, because a lot of petty crime is committed by addicts funding their habit.

  3. There's nothing more enjoyable than pandering to your personal prejudices rather than engaging brain is there?
  4. Shall we regard that as a misplaced sense of humour?
  5. It's not necessarily that simple. Petrol is a very light "cut", in other words it's low boiling point and extremely flammable. Diesel, "class A fuel oil", is a heavier cut and less flammable, but still much lighter than what we know as lubricating oil. As far as removing carbon deposits is concerned petrol may be regarded as a solvent, but it wont dissolve carbon, nothing will. Diesel is more likely to stick around and soften carbon deposits because it's less volatile, but whether or not it works in practice is debatable. A number of additives have been marketed as able to de-coke engines, with no real evidence that they work.

    BBC Click

Click used to be OK and was about computer technology, but yes it's just about bloody apps now.
  7. There's always a first time I suppose, but I've eaten in some dodgy looking backstreet curry places in my time and I've never had food poisoning once. I worry more about the kind of places that employ school leavers who haven't got a clue what they're doing because they can get away with paying them a pittance. It's £3.79 for under 18s or £2.73 if you can manage to class them as apprentices.
  8. You are correct, the Greek economy wasn't stable enough for them to join the Eurozone. Not sure about the rest of your rant though.
  9. Boris Johnson says that if the government lowered the 45% tax rate for the highest earners it would give Andy Murray more incentive to win. You couldn't make this crap up.
  10. Not to worry in a few years time this government will decide it needs opening up to competition, Sky will buy the lot and put it behind their paywall and all you will get from then on is an hour long highlights program unless you give Rupert Murdoch a big bag of money every year. Much like live cricket, now you see it, now you don't unless you subscribe to Sky Sport.
  11. Given the nature of American evangelical types I presume there will be a TV appeal for a few million dollars, shortly followed once the money has arrived by an announcement that The Lord has decided to spare his beloved servant.

    Glastonbury

It doesn't matter what they look like, it's how they sound that's important. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZgRuUgRed7yo

    Glastonbury

I wont be there either, but I'll probably watch some of it on TV.
  15. I know about these things because I've seen The Dog Whisperer. If your dogs want to eat you they definitely don't respect you as their pack leader.
  16. They are idiots and their dogs won't thank them for it, but will probably survive on a balanced vegan diet and certainly on a vegetarian diet. Cats are another matter, they are pure carnivores and are their system is very poor at digesting vegetable protein. If you feed your cat on a meat-free diet for long it will become ill and probably die.

    Mopeds.

I don't understand why these things are being called mopeds, they're scooters. The word moped derives from motor and pedal, motorised pedal cycles. Like so If it aint got pedals, it aint a moped.

    This shit.

Certainly I think it needs to be established whether this really is the child's wishes or the parent's. There are a number of places parents might go under these circumstances and The Press is not one of them. I suspect attention seeking at the very least.

  20. I'm getting bit hacked off with this "bitches" crap.
  21. He was indeed. OK it's not vintage Peter, but this is pretty damn good - recorded in Amsterdam in 2009 this is the nearest I've heard anyone get to Freddy King's original Version of The Stumble. The Freddy King Version:

  23. If you get offered the job of guitarist in Fleetwood Mac as tempting as it may be it's a job which has been something of a curse for a number of people. Peter Green disintegrated mentally after a brief creative spurt that saw him move beyond 12 bar blues with songs like Oh Well, Green Manalishi and the instrumental Albatross. In part at least due to excessive consumption of LSD along with his own inner demons he left the band and was diagnosed with schizophrenia. He has made a partial recovery, firstly playing with Splinter Group from 1995-2004 and more recently Peter Green and Friends. Still a decent enough guitarist, his playing no longer has the burning passion of the Mac days. Jeremy Spencer did a runner and joined the Children Of God cult. Danny Kirwan became a chronic alcoholic in his 20s and was living homeless on the streets of London at one point. A fragile humourless individual who most probable suffered from Asperger's Syndrome Kirwan became increasingly aggressive and violent as the drink took hold. Bob Welch committed suicide after suffering a life changing spinal injury.. Bob Western was sacked after having an affair with Mick Fleetwood's then wife Jenny Boyd, sister of Patty Boyd ex wife of George Harrison.
