They cocked up peoples mortgage payments which essentially meant a number of people (42000+) were underpaying on their instalments. Rather than taking a hit on the chin when they discovered it (remember it was their fault), then threatened customers with making extra payments running into hundreds of pounds a month, many of whom were already struggling to make their regular payments every month.
