Most have an ulterior motive, usually entry through the back door. Who would want to join an organisation that is more interested in box ticking for PC reasons than fighting crime. My bike is mine. Probably a passive-aggressive response to the industrial revolution; a bit to paint England as this beautifully rural, rustic and traditional existence miles away from any dark satanic mills. A good painter with a good eye, but hardly one to push the envelope. Sort of like Caravaggio a century and a half earlier, painting vast semi-fictitious vistas of an especially grandiose Venice for the benefit of rich Europeans doing their 'Grand Tour'.
