Why is Innes at fault Scotty?

Basically him and his firm Stormforce are being charged with negligence because the CPS (or whoever) reckon the boat wasn't inspected enough/properly/on-time and that an inspection would have said the keel was damaged and the boat not seaworthy.

Personally I don't think it'll happen looking at that report, there are, IMHO, enough other factors involved to fail on Beyond Reasonable Doubt if the lawyers are good enough twats.

There are quite a few areas where the lawyers can legitimately point fingers at other people as contributors to the accident which make the case hard to prosecute well.

Don't put money on it.

I'm not, but whether or not the bloke/company is guilty does not necessarily get him found guilty.

There are plenty of shitbags living free with good lawyers...

To any lawyers out there, I am NOT saying he is guilty or innocent, just looking at the stuff available and the state of the courts these days... you cunts.

I'll tell you after the trial. If you're particularly interested, take a look at the crew details for the race across the Atlantic which they won, and compare them with the details of the crew who tried to sail it back shortly afterwards. I can't say any more than that.

The skipper was very young.

The prosecution seem hell bent on nailing this cunt. Like I said, I've got a personal interest in this and was involved in the campaign, but I'll let you know after the trial is over.

Sounds like the sort of vessel where you would have Seaman Staines below deck.

Captain Edward John Smith was a cunt

It's still not the gayest ship on the seven seas. Word has it that Captain Drew can always be found vigilantly manning the poop deck.

Just heard on the grapevine that now the current trial is done, the RNLI are putting their oar in, so to speak. They are planning to prosecute him, not sure on what charge yet.

He made an odd comment about when the boat had been out of the water for a few months for repainted. When he said that "he would have inspected the boat himself", rather than saying that he did inspect the boat himself and he was also unaware of "damage from previous groundings".

Yes. The age profile of the crew looks odd. But it does not mean that the 50 somethings were the most experienced crew members. I remember a clerk who took early retirement at 56 so him and his wife could go as cook and sweeper up on a family yacht that was going on a round the world cruise. They set out from Portsmouth and got as far as Plymouth before they realised that the yacht owners would not be safe on Crewe  park lake let alone out at sea.

A quote from their website
"Stormforce's team of highly specialised Instructors and Moderators are happy to travel out to yachts and provide bespoke tuition onboard, saving Captains and crews from having to leave the boat."
