However, these snide bastards then set about trying to recruit spectators with all the fervour od the Hitler Youth in downtown Nurenberg, 1935. You show the slightest bit of interest in their idiocy, ironic or not, and they're onto you like a sucker fish, with their 'Come along for a trial session....we're looking for new blood' (unnatural emphasis on the word 'blood' too; there's a warning sign right there) and they never let up, turning a pleasant evening on the tins into some kind of outtake from 'Deliverance'.......with pigs bladders and bells.
