Penny Farthing
Once activism was the forte of student with fuck all better to do. These days activism .. especially environmental activsm is mostly commercial and often unrelated to reality. A new bypass is proposed and the tree huggers move in, however the reality so far as the wildlife is concerned is that the bypass is a glade or ride through the woods and the wildlife will adapt and those embankments are safer refuges for wildlife. Out there though waiting to pounce are grasping money grubbing individuals companies waiting to make money from opposing the plans.
cuntspotter
I hear the term “activist “ applied to anyone and I instinctively know that I’m dealing with a useless , Gobby cunt. Climate activism, LBGT activism, Black activism. Feminist activism. I agree that everyone should be able to have a voice that is heard...but they are all clamouring at the same time....guess what? No fucker is listening...it all sounds the same .
Hammer of Cunts
When I was a student in the seventies, there were plenty of "students" who were still enrolled and still getting a grant but who had been union officers for so long that they were never likely to finish their original courses. The senior Corbyn, who, apparently, has a postgrad degree in chemistry, has never bothered to repay society for his education by working for a living. Few of today's politicians (and their "advisors") have any experience of supporting themselves. Idealism its its own reward. New roads rarely, if ever follow a path convenient for the wildlife they disturb. "Glades" or clearings are important habitats in themselves and the "reality" of a deer crossing a trunk road is quite unpleasant. Very little wildlife above the size of a rat lives on road embankments; would you fancy it?

No fucker is listening...it all sounds the same . This is what has recently come to my attention .. I know the area well .. I understand the concerns about the environmental damage, I also understand the farmer's reasoning. The problem is that I think that both sides are wrong .. the activist want to make something static (that is actually stifling the wildlife) consultants who live in comfy middle class houses that are not prone to periodic flooding, and usually they make a comfortable living out of pond dipping and writing reports that fit in with the desires of whoever is paying them. In this instance a lot of money will be spent, the locals will be put under duress and no good will come out of it. https://greenallianceblog.org.uk/2020/12/14/what-does-recent-damage-to-the-river-lugg-tell-us-about-the-state-of-environmental-law-enforcement/

Things like badgers and foxes often thrive on the err roadkill. The embankments are often teeming with insect life and wild flowers. If your logic was right most cats living near a motorway or busy road would be killed within a short time .. actually very few die or get injured. The A38 and A380 in Devon are in effect motorways that pass through areas with a large deer population. Deer kills are very rare

Exactly..... carrying a placard or shouting in a group is hardly activism.

I'm not 100% sure of how he achieved it but I knew him when he was a ward councillor at Southwark and where I was a committee clerk and he dabbled in it then. Few years after he left someone told me that he had made a fortune with it. So, it may be true or maybe bollocks buy it's a good story. Anybody who was part of the student bidy politic of the early 1970s knows that those years saw the big backlash against the 1960s with fucking right wing groups and conservative clubs flourishing and millions of business degree courses and suited grey students enrolling in how to make money lectures. Soon to be joined in the 1980s by fycking millions of overseas greedy gobs Asian students eager to put a shine in their millionaire dad's eye.
