Wankers……..utter wankers. This government could be improved by loading the cabinet with random people plucked off the fucking street. This is total , blasé incompetence combined with dogma driven failure to act to ensure continuity of supply and food production. Yes, I knew something like this was in the offing  , I’ve been waiting for it. The cunts  have been asleep at the wheel and yes, I expect to see more and more breathtaking negligence and dereliction of duty as time progresses. You voted for them you cunts….. enjoy your fucking victory.

Here you have it, Spotto; the only way “forward” was to dismantle these and sell off the land to developers; an old but good working system, which could be easily made to work again, in case of gas import problems, war, etc.

The thirty years old gas storage off the coast, came to the end of its working life time and was replaced with…fuck all.

In the current energy market, coal makes a lot of sense, as it can be deployed quickly and relatively cheaply when compared to new nuclear stations. While huge amounts of money and work has to be put into the latest nuclear and other tech, coal will be again an important source of stable energy generation mix. The situation is really serious now.

It has already be proven that some of the alternatives to coal are even more carbon intensive and either reducing food production capacity or destroying forests and having to be transported thousands of miles using fossil fuel to power the ships. with local coal production and more railway electrification you could move the coal from colliery to power station with dual OHC/battery powered locomotives. A method used for 50 years with the MGR (merry go round) system.

Good points there. Biodiesel eats heavily into food production and trees are chopped, processed into pellets and shipped around with a fuck load of diesel while destroying forests and whole ecosystems. The carbon footprint of such operations is enormous, not to mention the nature depletion part. Krauts are selling this eco lec propaganda to their population as “green electricity” - no shit, it was green at the start.

More electrification, for all essential transportation systems is crucial; also for trams, which will have to come out of retirement, as private electric transport for all is a fantasy, even when downsizing to a Smart.
Coal to a power station direct and keep transportation loops moving, it all makes sense.
New gas storage.
In time as more capacity and distribution systems are built, we could have more networks added, with batteries, hydrogen, etc.
