You'll forgive my cynicism but I'm not entirely sure you're being sincere.

I'm drunk, Mike. I've decided to have a long bank holiday weekend.

Is Ding ignoring me? He hasn't responded to my hilarious quips in a while. What's occuring?

You've lost your house haven't you Decs? Not to worry, I'm sure Frank will only be too happy to have you doss down beside him in the Elephant and Castle subways in his piss stained sleeping bag as he regales you with bullshit stories of his travels to exotic locations in his make-believe yacht.

You're scraping the barrel, gyppo.. you disgusting unwashed, grey-matted-fannied, reggae dancing stink bomb. You make me sick you thick thieving whore.

I was reminded of you today. As I walked by a particularly pungent pile of dogshit, I thought to myself: 'I wonder which bridge that baldie bullshitter is sleeping under tonight?'

As we already know, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are entitled to free prescriptions. The Scots also have a free higher education system for young undergraduates, and the Welsh offer a non-repayable grant of over 5k towards their own undergraduates' university education.

Something I didn't know until today was how unfairly the homeless are treated in England compared to the rest of Britain. Unless you are deemed a priority, i.e. have children, physical or mental health issues, local authorities are under no obligation to provide you with accommodation if you have lost your home through no fault of your own. In Scotland, LA's are legally required to provide shelter for all members of society, regardless of circumstance, and in Wales, councils are obliged to find accommodation for all homeless people, within 56 days of losing their home.

I entirely understand that countries with smaller populations are more able to indulge in socially progressive policies, but could the rest of the UK afford to be as altruistic as they are without the vast tax revenues that are generated in England?

I have no problem contributing to a generous socialist policy in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. What I do mind is that in England, we are left to the mercies of our own personal circumstances, and if life deals you a bad hand, you are more fucked than someone who lives across our northern and western borders.

Life isn't fair as we all know, but it's even less fair if you're English.

You are forgetting one key point in this.....98% of Scotland and Wales housing stock is actually council.  So it's not that they are more benevolent than England it's just that they have so many empty unused flats and houses everyone who wants  one can have one. Thatcher sold our housing stock off but housing associations do fill a gap.  To be fair it's not like there are scenes from 28 days later in every city with mindless homeless zombie hoards walking the streets every night in their tens of thousands......unless you have ever been to Newcastle?

I sleep easily at night knowing my hard earned taxes are invested wisely by my betters to help all the people worse off than myself.

I am also confident that the 40 trillion pounds we give to help Scotland, Wales, Ulster, the Indian space programme, countless African dictators home building projects, Romanian people smugglers, the Afghan Taliban, charity bosses and domestic politicians get rich will be paid back in full and promptly if we ever find ourselves short of a bob or two.

You can celebrate all this at the canal street venues over the weekend.

I've had a lovely day off, Mike. This morning I gamboled and frolicked in a wild meadow full of daffodils, and at lunch time I fed the ducks. This afternoon I have been working on a three page apology to Ding.

Do you know what his favourite type of flower is? I'd hate to appear disingenuous.

You been in Wales?

Now that's getting fucking desperate.

I didn't think anyone could look a bigger cunt than Morrissey where daffodils were involved.

I stand corrected.

Shocking Deco, you utter spastic. Just leave Britain for a while, come back and you will realise it is still the best country in the world, and in many ways, England especially. It is choc abloc with beautiful countryside and villages. Still loads of great pubs. Most people are still considerate and polite (more so than anywhere else, I find). It has more history in such a small area than anywhere else in the world. Serious crime is still fairly low. Cost of living isn't bad. We don't get any real extremes of weather. And I find English women have the biggest tits in Europe (with the Krauts a close second). .

In fact the only thing that would have improved it immensely would have been Germany winning the war......... And Scotland winning the world cup in 1966.

Jackers, as a man of means, I love Ye Olde England. I was more talking about our less salubrious citizens such as Manky. Being a dosser pays more in the celtic fringe.
