Mr Donald Ape, now of no fixed address, caused permanent damage to several garden gnomes of a neighbour. When questioned Mr Ape replied that the gnomes had been leering at him. Bail was disallowed and Mr Ape was detained under section 42 of the mental health act pending further psychiatric reports.
