At the time the above media were being established in the consumer market Philips Labs in Eindhoven were already working on a digital player prototype and its key component a fast enough chip. By the time digital was introduced in the early 1980s information technology and the internet was already getting started. Lost built up a massive collection of mysteries, and then utterly failed to resolve them before the end of the series, showing total contempt for the investment of time and energy and attention the loyal viewers had put in.
