Artificial Intelligence

On Wednesday, Microsoft began trialling an AI called Tay on Twitter. It was supposed to be indistinguishable from a teenage girl, and was designed to learn from its online interactions. Less than a day later they had to switch if off after it turned into – and I quote the Daily Telegraph here rather then the Sunday Sport – “an evil Hitler-loving, incestual sex-promoting, 'Bush did 9/11'-proclaiming robot”.

Tay's finer moments include asking her followers to 'fuck me, daddy" and opining that "Hitler would have done a better job than the monkey we have got now. Donald trump is the only hope we've got".

And these are the same cunts who tell us it's safe to have driverless cars? Frankly I'd rather have Skynet in charge of the nuclear warheads than Vicky fucking Pollard.

She sounds like she's in the top 1 percentile of intelligent cunts on Twatter.

Good thing Adam Johnson is locked up, don't know if Bill Gates needs a Sunderland kit.

I can't help but feel you're all underestimating the scale of the AI threat.

The AlphaGo program, created by the Google DeepMind project, recently handed World Go champion Lee Sedol his arse in a basket. Even the team who created it don't know how. It's a fairly safe bet, though, that it could do your job in its sleep.

Be afraid, people, be very afraid.

When you have the likes of Stephen Hawking waving warning flags (figuratively speaking, of course) then we all have reason to be worried.

They say Artificial Intelligence will never be a match for Natural Stupidity, a point proven time and time again on this site. My worry is that when they develop Artificial Stupidity many of our top posters will be redundant.

The Welsh and Yorkshireman will be OK though, they have the powerful advantage of Genetic Inbred Stupidity which will never be beaten.

artificial intelligence is totally unworkable and is nothing to be feared......even if it did start to display any signs of self awareness or independent thought.....the next "crucial" update by Microsoft cunts to Windows 11 would quickly reduce it to a confused and unworkable state.

They have removed it to make 'adjustments' pretty much like real life then, programme it not to have certain opinions, repress it's natural instincts,ie just like the politicians, media and governments do to the human population anyway.Maybe they could ask it to have a look at the engine management read out on my volvo,it'd be as fucked as a Dalek at the top of an escalator

Just because it was your natural instinct to be a nazi loving sex pest doesn't mean that's how everyone else is.

I think MS shouldn't have pulled the account, they should have left that one to run "naturally" and create another account that they can tweak and edit...

Interesting to see if the account - were it not pulled, would have eventually learned subtlety and context i.e. when to say and when not to say these things. Negative reinforcement may have worked aka loads of people saying "you can't say that" etc.

As Bubbles accurately pointed out earlier:

Twitter is not what I'd describe as a nurturing learning environment.

I was sad, though, when they pulled her. I reckon if they'd given her another day she might have managed to get Stephen Fry to top himself.
