One of the government's arguments was that now gay couples are able to marry, civil partnerships might be abolished or phased out in the future, and changing legislation before then would be "costly and complex". The law in this country may be one of the best in the world, but it could be improved as it is still fundamentally fawed. Perhaps they should bring back trial by combat.
