I  walked into the house, and my missus was hurling abuse at the t.v.  There was this black poof, in a floral shirt, mincing around his London cottage(ing) style garden. So Monty is blacking up now? After that breakdown I think everybody advised him to go hard soft. Hence, soft voice, soft movements, soft clothing, soft hat, and I suspect even that wears him out. Gone are the days of Geoff Hamilton and Percy Thrower.

Sky and ITV are every bit as bad. The problem is that the BBC is trying to compete with them .. we do need an alternative and that is what the BBC should be, basic and simple. strip out the opinion, bias and all the wonderful stories of African amputees and other fluff so that it is as it was in the 1960s, switch off the daytime mass audience stuff and replace it with schools programmes as we had up until the early 1970s. Get rid of Eastbenders and the like. max salary 50k. Essentially the BBC should be "Fog on channel, continent isolated".
